If a portion of my water or sewer service line crosses a neighbouring property, is it still covered?

Yes, coverage would extend to the portions of your private water or sewer service lines that extend across neighbouring private properties providing:

• The service line does not branch off and service more than one property and;
• You as the service agreement holder, obtain written permission from the impacted property owner(s) for the repair work to be completed on their property.

If you are unaware of the location and configuration of your existing service lines, you can submit an Infrastructure Information Request to the City of Greater Sudbury’s Technical Services group for available information. As the details and locations of services on private property are the responsibility of the property owner at the time of installation, information within the City records may be limited. As such, you may ultimately need to reach out to a qualified private locator to investigate service line location(s).
