Residents Invited to PowerUp!

Sep 27, 2018

Residents are invited to a hands-on discussion to help shape the city’s future in energy consumption.

PowerUp Greater Sudbury is a community-wide planning project to create our city’s clean energy future.  The first event is being held on Thursday, October 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, located at 1696 Regent St. in the Georgian B Room.

The goal of the project is to explore energy opportunities as a community. It will create a vision for a local energy future that supports jobs and local economic development while improving quality of life and addressing climate change impacts.

Over the course of the 18-month project several subjects will be explored, including  where Greater Sudbury’s energy comes from and how it is used, in order to:

•    Be more energy efficient in our transportation and buildings
•    Take advantage of renewable energy opportunities
•    Make the right energy and community investments
•    Lower energy use expenses
•    Lower greenhouse gas emissions
•    Create jobs and improve the design of our city
