Junction Creek Reconstruction and Reprofiling

Pre-Construction Notice- April 15, 2024

The City of Greater Sudbury will be completing improvements on Junction Creek from Lloyd Street to approximately 130 metres north of Perrault Street.

This project is funded in part by the Government of Canada through the Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund and will make Junction Creek more resilient to the effects of climate change. 

Project Highlights:

  • Creek bed will be excavated to minimize potential risks of flooding and enhance stormwater management.
  • Creek banks will be re-graded to improve slope stability and reduce impacts of erosion. 
  • Invasive plant species will be removed to the extent possible and replaced with native species.
  • Fish habitat will be enhanced with the introduction of new rocky substrate to the creek bed.
  • Existing municipal infrastructure for water, sanitary and stormwater will be relocated to reduce any negative impacts to the creek and improve access for future maintenance.
  • The Junction Creek Waterway Park trail will be restored upon completion of construction.

Expected Start Date: Fall 2024                             
Expected End Date:  Fall 2027

A public information meeting will be held for this project. A notice will be sent to area residents once the data and location has been confirmed.

Once a Contractor has been selected, affected property owners will receive a construction notice with more information about the work.
