Stroller Policy
Strollers do not need to be folded and children can remain seated in the stroller if:
- The stroller is no larger than 24 inches wide (61 cm) by 48 inches (122 cm) long and
- Priority seating is not occupied or needed by persons with disabilities.
- Double strollers are not permitted to be open in the priority seating area because they are too wide and will extend into the aisle.
Open strollers
- If priority seating areas at the front of the bus are not occupied by persons with disabilities, you may fold up a seat to make room for your stroller.
- Apply the stroller brakes, make sure your children are facing the back of the bus and hold the stroller tightly while the bus is in motion.
- If persons requiring priority seating board the bus, the last passenger to board the bus with a stroller must move to a regular seat. Strollers must be folded when in the regular seating areas.
- Children in accessible strollers may stay in the stroller if it is secured in the tie-down priority seating area.
Open strollers permitted in the priority seating area include:
- umbrella strollers
- travel system strollers
- tandem strollers
- three-wheeled strollers
- jogging strollers
Strollers that must be folded up
- Double strollers are not permitted to be open in the priority seating area because they are too wide and will extend into the aisle.
- Strollers larger than the maximum size are not allowed on board unless they are folded and stored out of the way of the bus aisle.
Tips for travelling with a stroller
- Allow passengers without strollers to board first.
- Make sure your child is securely buckled into the stroller. You assume full responsibility for the safety of your children.
- Ask the bus operator to lower the accessible ramp for boarding, if necessary. Operators cannot leave the driver’s seat to help you board.
- Bags and other items hanging from the handles of strollers cannot block the bus aisle.
