Permit Palooza
The City of Greater Sudbury is hosting a Permit Palooza on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Home, Renovation and Style Show in the Sudbury Community Arena.
Residents must sign up for a Pronto account before attending Permit Palooza but should not submit their application beforehand. If your project meets the expedited criteria, your permit could be issued the same day.
The following projects are eligible for an expedited permit:
- Weeping tile
- Single level attached or detached decks
- Siding
- Detached garages less than 55 metres squared, without additional dwelling units
- Above ground pools
- Sheds greater than 15 metres squared
For an expedited permit the application must meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be able to supply all required documents from the home renovation project checklists and guides for your project, including:
- A Schedule 1 signed by the property owner (listed on title).
- If the applicant is the not the owner of the property a Letter of Authorization signed by the property owner is also required.
- The property must be fully municipally serviced or have written approval from Public Health Sudbury and Districts if the property has a septic system (for example an approved application or documentation confirming approval or that approval is not required for the proposed construction).
- The property must be outside the conservation authority’s flood plain, flood fringe or have written proof of approval for the proposed construction from Conservation Sudbury for properties within the regulated area.
- Applicants must be pre-registered for a Pronto account but should not have begun the application process for this permit.
