Complete a Greater Sudbury Transit Fare and Transportation Grant application online or print and fill out a hard copy.  Submit applications to: Greater Sudbury Transit, 1160 Lorne Street, Sudbury ON P3C 4T2 or email transit@greatersudbury

Who is eligible for the grant?

Applicants must be a Canadian Registered Non-Profit organization, Charitable organization or community group and must occupy a primary address in the City of Greater Sudbury.

If approved, the Transit Fare and Transportation Grant must be used for the event or program identified in the application and not for any other purpose.

How are applications reviewed for approval?

Applications are reviewed by Greater Sudbury Transit staff within two to three weeks of receipt and results are communicated to the applicant via email.

Evaluations are based on whether the not-for-profit, charitable or community event or program matches the following:

  • Relevance to the City of Greater Sudbury’s community goals and key official documents, including the Transit Ridership Growth Plan, Healthy Community Strategy and Strategic Plan
  • Promotion of social, healthy and environmentally friendly living
  • Promotion of efficient and effective transportation

All application approvals and denials are final. Approval of applications in previous years does not guarantee approval in subsequent years. Successful applicants may be subject to compliance/reasonability checks.

How are grants awarded?

The Greater Sudbury Transit Fare and Transportation Grant program has $25,000 to share with eligible applicants each year. Funding is provided through Provincial Gas Tax as approved by Greater Sudbury Council.
