City of Greater Sudbury Receives Distinguished Budget Award
The City of Greater Sudbury is being recognized by the Government Finance Officer Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The City has received the Distinguished Budget Award for the 2014 Municipal Budget. This is the highest form of recognition in government budgeting and represents a significant achievement by the City.

The GFOA Distinguished Budget Award was established to encourage local governments to prepare budget documents of the very highest quality that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA’s best practices on budgeting. Municipalities must satisfy the four nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation including: a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device.

2014 CAMA Environment Award - Biosolids Management Program
The Environment Award recognizes the commitment of a municipality to environmentally sustainable governance, to protecting the environment and to combating climate change.  Awards are granted to programs, projects or services that have made a significant and positive impact on the environment. The City won the award for its biosolids management facility, which demonstrates the City's administrative excellence and an ability to rise to changing environmental standards.

The Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators is a national, non-profit association open to all Chief Administrative Officers/City Managers and any person employed in a senior management position that reports directly to the CAO. CAMA has a membership of approximately 500 City Managers, Chief Administrative Officers and Senior Appointed Officials from all parts of Canada.

2013 C.W. Chuck Wills Award - Sudbury Biosolids Management Facility
The Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships (CCPPP) is proud to announce that Sudbury’s Biosolids Management Facility has won the 2013 Chuck Wills Award, one of the organization’s National Awards for Innovation and Excellence in Public-Private Partnerships. The award is presented to outstanding municipal P3 projects in memory of the former CAO of the City of Windsor, who was a tireless supporter of P3 and a CCPPP Board member.

Canadian Award for Financial Reporting, for the 2012 Annual Financial Report
The GFOA established the Canadian Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program (CAnFR Program) in 1986 to encourage and assist Canadian local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles, as set by the Public Sector Accounting Board of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, to prepare comprehensive annual financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure and then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.

Green Champion Award, Federation of Canadian Municipalities
Bill Lautenbach, Greater Sudbury’s General Manager of Growth and Development, has received the prestigious Green Champion Award by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. He received the award at the FCM annual conference in Vancouver on June 2, 2013. Mr. Lautenbach was chosen because he has displayed dedication, supported innovation and provided valuable guidance within the municipal government over his 35-year career in Greater Sudbury, the FCM said in a statement.
